In 1988, she received her Juris Doctor degree from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and was admitted to the Florida Bar. During her last year of law school, Ms. Mapes was certified as a Legal Intern for the Miami-Dade County State Attorney’s Office where she practiced in the Criminal Traffic/DUI courts. After law school, Ms. Mapes practiced in Real Estate, Personal Injury and Family Law. Ms. Mapes was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 1998. She has devoted her practice to Family Law since that time. Ms. Mapes has conducted numerous trials and has participated in hundreds of mediations and depositions. She originally joined Bailey & Galyen as an Associate Attorney in 1999 and worked in the Irving, Texas office. In 2003, Ms. Mapes accepted a position as an Assistant Attorney General in the Child Support Division of the Office of the Attorney General of the State of Texas. At the Attorney General’s Office, Ms. Mapes specialized in Child Support Enforcement and other Suits Affecting the Parent-Child Relationship. Ms. Mapes has extensive trial experience in the Dallas and Tarrant County Family Courts and has also tried cases in Denton, Randall and Galveston Counties. In 2004, Ms. Mapes returned to Bailey & Galyen and continues to practice in Family Law at the Irving and Dallas offices. Ms. Mapes’ primary concern is for her clients’ ultimate satisfaction and that the best interests of the family are served through the legal process. Upon being admitted to the Florida Bar in 1988, Ms. Mapes began practicing general civil litigation in Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties, eventually limiting her practice to Plaintiff’s Personal Injury Law. As an Associate Attorney in Palm Beach County with the Law Office of Kenneth N. Metnick in Delray Beach, Florida for four years, Ms. Mapes successfully negotiated and litigated hundreds of personal injury cases, deposing expert witnesses, mediating complex personal injury and wrongful death cases, and conducting both bench and jury trials, including appeals to the Fourth District Court of Appeals in West Palm Beach. An experienced litigator, Ms. Mapes is zealous in her representation of clients, whether in the courtroom or the conference room.
